Skyward Reverie

Skyward Reverie is an electronica/ downtempo album by Alias Here – aka James Cunliffe. It started as a lofi project with the occasional cinematic flourish but quickly took on its own identity with the addition of ambient, jazz and world music elements.

Immerse yourself in a sonorous journey with Alias Here, where sounds form an emotive sonic landscape. From the interplay of enchanting ambient and textured synth sounds, to the pulsating rhythm of downtempo and house beats, Alias Here is my attempt at blurring the boundaries between genres, creating an eclectic fusion that hopefully gets you vibing.

Since the birth of this project in January 2017, Alias Here has been my musical outlet. With its roots in ambient, downtempo, electronica, trip-hop, and house, I’ve layered wonky beats with thick, airy pads, sprinkled with a symphony of ambient sounds. You’ll also hear orchestral elements and guitar riffs thrown in for good measure.

Four singles are out on Spotify, ‘Artificial Progression,’ ‘Callie’s Quest,‘ ‘Crystalline,’ and ‘Master of the Ducks.‘ In March 2024 I also released ‘Skyward Reverie,‘ which explores lofi beats mixed with cinematic strings.

POMP YIN

Before Alias Here emerged, there was Pomp Yin – an earlier venture into the world of music production that thrived from 2013 to 2017. Pomp Yin enjoyed a wave of popularity, partly spurred by the vibrant gaming community of Geometry Dash.

The glitchy rhythms of Pomp Yin found their way into the hearts of gamers, scoring background music for B E P I S by Wulz, Sunburn by Pocke, and Chaos Game by Wless.

The track that led the way was ‘A Day on the Sun.’ It became a staple within the Geometry Dash scene, resonating with players across the globe. Pomp Yin is also home to two distinct albums. The inaugural album, ‘World Celebration’ released in 2015, which was mostly me trying to figure out how to combine ambient soundscapes with pulsating electronic synths. It was very experimental and thus produced a fairly unique sound.

After discovering the success of ‘A Day on the Sun’ in the Geometry Dash community, I re-mastered and re-released the single on Spotify.
